Designed around a standard air deletion tool with a top speed of about 22,000 RPM, the Hand Held Sputter Coated Edge Deletion Tool is approximately 10" x 4" x 5-1/2". It is well balanced and fits nicely in the palm of your hand.
The tool runs on shop-air pressure (typically about 100 - 160 PSI). The hand held connects to your air supply via an industrial 1/4" NPT Male quick-disconnect hose coupler. If you require a different type of coupling for your application, let us know and we will work with you to determine the coupler which best suit your needs.
The guard and the machined components associated with it are made of anodized aluminum. The wear guide is made Teflon PTFE. When worn, it can be easily replaced with the two screws in the front. The screws have been mounted below the glass edge line to allow for maximum use of the wear strip.
The RPM of the tool is adjustable using a screw on the side up to a maximum of 22,000. We ship them set at the lowest speed setting on the tool.
Our Hand Held Edge Deletion Tool uses a standard deletion wheel, 3" in diameter, 3/4" thick with a 3/8" arbor hole. This makes wheel replacement easy and cost effective.
If needed, the design of the tool allows for deletion of more than 1/2" of coating. This is done by adjusting the guides and the wheel arbor and making multiple passes. The wheel can be positioned a much as 1-3/8" from the face of the white UHMW guide for deeper removal of glass coating. Note that the thickest wheel currently available is 3/4".
